| Web 3.0 is sure to be coined for the latest developments happening over at TopQuadrant and Franz. Programming tool makers TopQuadrant and Franz are working to complete a semantic web development environment and database system. Combining TopQuadrant TopBraid Composer and Franz AllegroGraph 64-bit RDF Store database together, to form a semantic web development environment and database that will enable computers to actually make themselves smarter. The semantic web technology to attain this level of advancement has never been available. But, almost direct from the horse's mouth we heard a few words that would give us something to look forward to; Ralph Hodgeson, Executive Partner at TopQuadrant stated proudly and justifiably so, "We had to build the tools to make all this semantic Web stuff fly, the tools to build it didn't exist. Public domain tools, like Protege and Swoop, aren't tools businesses are going to want to use. Semantic applications tend not to upgrade well using todays' standard database and development environments. But, you can program your way out of almost any corner, it Just takes a lot of effort". To help brother half-geeks out there understand this all easily i say this: Semantic Web tools, protocols, and whole languages exist. They include things like RDF, Sparql and Web Ontology Language, as well as the XML offspring language. Giving developers the ability to organize data in a semantic structure or framework has existed for quite long now. So what have TopQuadrant and Franz done that finally can call itself Web 3.0? "What the TopQuadrant-Franz combo adds is an Eclipse-based graphic development environment and a database designed to scale with massive amounts of RDF data."Ralph Hodgson stated. It seems standard databases did not scale before this, thus holding back a true scalable semantic system. (got it, i think!) So, by the sounds of it, Web 3.0 could actually be here! Wow, eh?, it sounds like the next giant leap in computer intelligence to me (if i understand it right) Web development is constantly sprinting along at a fantastic rate, where will we possibly be in 10 years time.
